Spring Season Palette
Welcome to the Spring season of our color analysis! Discovering what season(s) fits you best is the first step to creating and understanding the new beautiful you. If you’ve taken the “3 Step Quiz” in the previous blog, double check by reading below to see if your beauty fits into this category and to better understand your season. You may have more than one season palette so be sure to check out the others too! It’s nice to toggle between two season palettes for variation.
When you look at the Spring palette think of the colors from nature. The blossoming flowers of fluffy pinks, the bold popping color of wildflowers, the pastels of fragrant herbs, and the blue clear sky. All palettes are inspired by the colors of nature. Now let’s see if you’re a Spring palette. If you’re similar to the examples below you’re a match!
Eye Color: bright and clear do your eyes have these certain colors? Look into a mirror outside in the natural light to be certain. Clear/sky/baby blue, light green, golden green, topaz, light hazel, warm brown, warm dark brown, flakes of gold, or darker rimmed iris.
Hair color: Does your hair have undertones of light warm tones containing gold or warm red? Think back to what your hair color was as a child this will help! These colors can be either light, medium, or dark shades. Golden blonde, strawberry blonde, light red, auburn, copper, golden brown, warm brown, reddish brown, deep chestnut, and warm black. Even black can have a warm undertone just hold it up to the sunlight and see if it shines with warm color down the shaft. If it looks dark and glossy then you may want to check out the Summer palette!
Skin color: This one can be tricky because skin colors have such a wide range so first think if your skin is more blue or red tinted. If it’s more towards pink, red, golden warm yellow then you are in the right category. Skin color can be fair, porcelain, ivory, creamy, peachy, light beige, golden or peach undertone, golden beige, pecan brown, peanut butter truffle tone, warm amber, browned caramel, or you may have freckles. (For darker skin colors check out this great article I found which gives some examples of celebrities). https://www.thatsister.com/different-shades-of-brown-skin-which-do-you-have/ If you are overwhelmed with the names of all these colors as I am just remember does your skin glow warm. If all else fails put some of the Spring colors next to your skin just to be sure.
So are you Spring? I know I am, but I’m also Summer! Check out the other palettes to see if you have more than one season.
Here are the three most common combinations of Spring with the other seasons:
Spring/Summer– colors are light, creamy, warm and soft
Spring/Fall (Autumn)– colors are warm, peachy, golden, and light
Spring/Winter– colors are clear, warm, vivid and bright
The Spring palette has two main types Soft/Muted and Clear. For example, during the summer time I can use the Soft/Muted color Spring palette which have warmer colors. In the winter time, I can use the Clear color palette which has cool colors. During spring and fall I like to mix and match both cool and warm variations.
Here are some common color palettes. Choose what colors you like best to create a unique style just for you!
Soft/Muted/Warm Spring always based on warm undertones. Golden yellow, cream, apricot, gold, copper, warm brown, warm green, teal, cinnamon, mango, poppy red, warm light pink, gold, rose gold and many more! These colors tend to be brighter and bold on fair skin and more natural on darker skin. Take a look at the color swatches below and choose your favorites to create your own palette.
Cool Spring (aka Bright/Clear)– high saturated warm colors, bright pinks, burnt orange, jewel tones, turquoise, lime green, black, hot pink, rose pink, blue pink, violet and purple, pure green blue, navy, coffee, silver, rose gold and many more! These colors look natural on light skin, but can also add a crisp pop of color. Same with dark skin the purples and blue will pop while the more subtle beiges, pinks, and yellows will give your skin a golden glow. Take a look at the color swatches below and choose your favorites to create your own palette.
Now that you’ve looked over the Spring season palette I recommend you check out the other seasons too! You may have more choices. Once finished with discovering what palette(s) work best for you, making a small swatch booklet with the colors of your choice. It would make a most excellent guide for shopping.
