After having acne from the age of 15 to 25 I’ve had my fair share of buying useless products and experimenting with my skin only to end up with tears of frustration and an empty wallet. I want to spare you from the same situation, so here’s my tip #2 for remedies that actually work to control acne!
Tip #2
Open your spice cabinet and grab that magical yellow powder. Turmeric. This spice has amazing anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is all natural which I love! It may not be as strong as ibuprofen, but it’s guaranteed not to make your breakouts any worse. This treatment will #1 Cut back the swelling #2 Speed up the process of getting rid of redness #3 Prevent more bacteria from entering the pores #4 Quickly bring the bacteria to the surface.

Please note it won’t dissolve the bacteria under the skin. It’s already trapped below the surface and there’s only one way out. Your body can break down some of it, but most likely any hardened oils, dead hair and skin, and other toxins must be removed. Usually in the form of a white head.
How to use*
– Simply put the turmeric powder into a container and choose your liquid. 1. Using apple cider vinegar will help lighten those reddened areas and kill bacteria (be warned it will sting open wounds and sensitive areas) 2. Your own facial toner to cut bacteria 3. Or water in case you want to keep it simple at first.
– Mix the two together to form a spreadable paste and apply to the affected area(s). Let it sit 20-30 minutes or for better results overnight and wash off. Please be warned!!! (This concoction will stain your skin yellow for the day so plan your treatment accordingly. Also it will stain clothes, pillow cases, bed sheets, etc. so be careful!)
(Note* to get the most from this treatment, I suggest taking a hot shower, cleansing your face, using a facial toner to cut the bacteria down, using a hot and cold compress for deep cysts, and then apply the paste. Keep applying it every day until the pore has been cleaned out and only a pink after blemish scar remains. This treatment is safe to use as a full face mask and can be used weekly. Use daily on severe spots and cystic acne.
Sometimes the acne runs deep and may need to be cleaned out several times. If that’s the case, keep applying this treatment until the spot has lost all swelling and the skin’s surface is smooth. This step is very important because if you allow the wound to close without fully extracting what’s inside it will close, heal, and then later come again fully infected as a deep cyst.
