Trends of the New Gothic Era ~Men’s Office Shoes~

~Chapter 6~ The Office Goth – Men’s edition

In the darkness, goths rule the nightworld so it’s time to shine some light on the newest trends and dust the webs off our inner goths. In this series of chapters, I will be exploring the emergence of the latest trends in fashion’s underworld.

I’ve always wanted to dress in a gothic wardrobe fulltime but as I grow older the demands of the workplace require a much more modest approach to fashion and everyday life just doesn’t allow it as often.

So here’s my approach to the latest gothic trends that you can wear at work, in public, and even abroad. Dress how you want to dress. Gothic trends are emerging more elegant and mysterious than before and it’s time to add some new styles into the mix.

Fetching Footwear

Before you reach for the standard office shoe it’s time for a dramatic change. Tired of the old slacks and shiny office shoes, I’ve explored a slightly different approach to office fashion. Let’s start with my all time favorite the classic business shoe, but with a little more edge.

The Classic Business Shoe

A classic business shoe is known to have multiple styles and colors which make them easier to find in the market or online. Step outside the comfort zone and look for ones with a pop of color or surprising texture that add dimension to your style. Luckily the style of these shoes rarely change so invest in a good pair that’ll last you the next 5~7 years or buy several to match your suits. This type of shoe is very professional in the work place.

The Loafer Revamped

The loafer is made for comfort with a more casual appearance. With these be careful not to stray too far into the “elderly” look. Instead opt for a more modern approach by looking for unique patterns, textures, and accessories. The loafer tends to be more flexible in shape allowing for the foot to breathe and move which is what makes them perfect for the workplace.

The Business Tennis Shoe (for casual work life)

This last style is for a more casual approach to the work place which requires you to be on your feet and on the move, but that doesn’t mean you have to ditch fashion for comfort. The business tennis shoe is the perfect option. It’s like a hybrid business shoe. Look for modern styles such as metallic features and unique structures to create an edgy look.

The business shoe, loafer, and hybrid tennis shoes are my top three choices for unique styles of office shoes. They are professional but keep your gothic vibe alive. For additional ideas visit my Pintrest to put together your look and search for more ideas.
