~Chapter 7~ The Nature Goth – Women’s edition
In the darkness, goths rule the nightworld so it’s time to shine some light on the newest trends and dust the webs off our inner goths. In this series of chapters, I will be exploring the emergence of the latest trends in fashion’s underworld.
I’ve always wanted to dress in a gothic wardrobe fulltime but as I grow older the demands of the workplace require a much more modest approach to fashion and everyday life just doesn’t allow it as often.
So here’s my approach to the latest gothic trends that you can wear at work, in public, and even abroad. Dress how you want to dress. Gothic trends are emerging more elegant and mysterious than before and it’s time to add some new styles into the mix.
Goddess of the Woods

In gothic fashion you’ll find the inspirations of nature all throughout from its accessories to shoes and in prints and textures. Nature, especially winter’s, is when we shine best. I’ve delved deep into the ancient forests to bring out the latest majestic trends in nature. Take a look to add some of these ideas to your own gothic style.
A Little Trinket of Nature
I love adding these little pieces of nature to my style not only because they are pleasing to the eye, but they give me a chance to escape into nature while stranded in the bustling city or at a boring desk job. You’ll find so many various types of accessories all tied to nature. Keeping the accessories small and simple won’t distract the focus from your gothic style but will simply add another interesting dimension to its overall look. What’s so great about this is that if you’re low on cash save a dark moonlit night for a DIY project to make your own accessories.
Forest Prints
Finding prints that copy nature can add great texture to your wardrobe breaking up the all black color scheme into something with a more modern twist. Here I’ve chosen the inspirations of tree branches because they add a nice directional flow to the fabric without too much of a Halloween vibe. The key is to keep the patterns small and less noticeable. If someone says “Oh hey nice tree print!” then the print is way to obvious. You want to keep the eye guessing on what the pattern is. If you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for trying changing your clothes yourself. Check out my DIY acid washing ideas to experiment with your old clothes.
Floral Fantasy

Flowers are super feminine and a great way to add some elegance into the mix and luckily for us they are always in fashion and easy to find! If you are looking for a more modest approach trying adding them into your accessories and handbags while if you love flowers as much as me they will be the main show piece of your style such as a printed dress or jacket. While there are many prints out there be warned that some will look flattering while others not so much. Stay away from the big big prints of flowers as they are a distraction and look “heavy”. Small to medium size floral prints are modest and easy on the eyes.
Whether in your accessories, prints, or with touches of floral elegance nature can add another interesting style to your wardrobe. There are many choices out there but with these three basic ones you can branch out to find what parts of nature suit your style best.
