Every wonder how to find the perfect color for your skin or end up buying the wrong shade of your favorite color? Using a color chart can be overwhelming and difficult at first so if you’re a beginner in the world of color coordination here’s my best tip to finding colors that work for you! If you’re like me you’ve probably purchased clothes in beautiful colors but as soon as you wear it just looks all wrong or makes you seem older, sick, or tired. Let’s stop wasting money and time and study the basic tricks of using nature as your color guide. It’s as simple as that!
Nature is a tool to find the right colors for your skin. Not only will you find ones that match with your skin tone but can also be coordinated to match the seasons and your surroundings. I’ve noticed men’s clothes are almost always based on the colors of nature while women tend to have more variety making it difficult to find the right colors, but that doesn’t mean it’s any easier to chose the right ones for men either.
First it’s important to remember where you live. It’s easiest to match the nature you are constantly surrounded in. Here are some examples of places and colors to help you understand that location can change the mood and colors of your wardrobe and makeup.
Living in a tropical place with lots of dark greens there is a color for all skin types. Look at the colors and you’ll find them to be mostly vibrant, rich in tone, and dark.

Living in a dry place you’ll find beautiful golds and beige and dusty tones sprinkled among the rocks and barren lands.
How about the snow? Yes! There’s still nature and color to be found in all places!

So let’s talk flowers. Flowers and plants are the easiest guide to finding all sorts of colors that flatter the skin so here’s what you can do to find the ones for you. Go to your nearest garden center, on a hike, in a park, or even in your back yard and just start taking pictures of your skin with those colors. Collect as many color samples as you can of colors you both love to look at and ones you’d love to wear. Arrange the colors by the basic categories such as pinks, purples, blues, greens etc. Once organized, these colors can be added into your color palette to inspire your make-up looks, wardrobe, accessories, perhaps even some interior decorating. The ideas are endless! Take a look at some of the samples I took.

Once you become familiar with the colors that look best on you it will make shopping so much easier. You can easily skim past the ones that don’t work and find the right shade for you. Live in the city where all the plants are imported or sadly there is nothing around? Look to the skies for inspiration, find the nearest park even take a day trip to explore your colors. The limitation isn’t just to flowers and plants you can use the colors of buildings, an elegant chair, a favorite oil painting. Think about why those colors appeal to you and how you can find the right shade of that color for your skin. Now it’s time to spruce up your colors so get out there and enjoy some nature while you’re at it.
