~Chapter 10~ Trending gothic hosiery
In the darkness, goths rule the nightworld so it’s time to shine some light on the newest trends and dust the webs off our inner goths. In this series of chapters, I will be exploring the emergence of the latest trends in fashion’s underworld.
I’ve always wanted to dress in a gothic wardrobe fulltime but as I grow older the demands of the workplace require a much more modest approach to fashion and everyday life just doesn’t allow it as often.
So here’s my approach to the latest gothic trends that you can wear at work, in public, and even abroad. Dress how you want to dress. Gothic trends are emerging more elegant and mysterious than before and it’s time to add some new styles into the mix.
Divine Legs

Legs take up about 50% of your body so don’t forget that sometimes they need the attention. They can be our main fashion statement by dressing them up with some killer tights to draw attention. Here are my top three picks for this year’s fashion statements. Some more classical others oh so magical take a look at these to inspire your own style.
Back to Black

Black is always our go to color but who says it has to be simple. While solid black tights are always clean and classic, more and more tights with designs are being made to suit our personal taste’s. Spice up your style by adding a few of these designs into your wardrobe. Here are a few tips on shopping for the right ones.
Look for tights that are thick. Anything sheer or opaque will have the tendency to snag and tear easily. Printed on tights, the design will almost always wear off and start flaking which starts to look cheap and unkept. Either wear them less often to preserve their quality or switch to a tight where the design is woven into the material. Tights come in many colors, but still be aware that the color might not look good with your skin. I used to own a soft lavender pair of tights, which goes well with my skin color, but when I put them on the color was faded and people kept asking me what was wrong with my legs. Looking in a full length mirror they were right. My legs looked like the color of a dead corpse! When you have to explain or defend your fashion because of its color you know its not the right ones for you. Toss and try again.

Mile Long Legs

Striped tights can be your worst enemy or your best friend depending on which way they go. Stripes running horizontal will make your legs seem longer because it tricks the eye. Vertical lines stop the eye at each line cutting you leg shorter and shorter with each line. Not to mention it could end up looking like a bumble bee. Instead find vertical lines that are slightly diagonal or lines that are placed vertically to emphasize a certain part of the body. Stripe tights come with both thick and thin lines. If you want a more noticeable tight go for the thicker lines, but beware that sometimes they can give you a “circus look” and if that’s not what your going for look for ones where the difference between the white and black of the stripe is more blended.
Faery Florals

These are abstract and great for an artsy style. I love these because not only can you custom make them yourself, but just imagine these under a wedding dress! They’re so magical! They’re a bit too flashy for the work place but worn in the right situation they can be both beautiful and elegant and are worth talking about. Since this style is still an emerging fashion, you may have a hard time finding them online, but there are plenty of DIY tutorials out there to make a unique pair for your clothes. These are great for special occasions, a night out or even a wedding.

Hosiery can be a great accessory to your overall look or the show piece of your outfit. It keeps you warm in winter, makes your legs look fabulous and long and sexy, what’s not to love! They are great for all year round and come in so many beautiful styles I hope you’ll give them a try.
