(Steam Eye Masks) めぐりズム蒸気でホットアイマスク 無香料 ~ Japanese product review

Steam heating eye mask (rose type, 12 pack) by MegRhythm Kao

The rose eye mask helps relieve stress, headaches, and gives you a good night’s rest with infused scents of various kinds (this one is rose). It heats up to 40 degrees Celsius lasting for 20 minutes and then gradually becomes cooler again.

How to use*

Open package and give the eye patches a couple shakes to activate it. (It reacts to oxygen and will start to heat up automatically, no batteries or plug-ins necessary as it’s a chemical activation). Place over eyes before a good night’s rest or use when travelling. These are easier to find in the winter time in Japan and most likely online too.

Pros

~ Eases headaches and stress with aromatherapy and heat

~ Helps to alleviate eye strain and tired eyes

~ Makes falling asleep easy and fast

~ The heat (from beginning to end) lasts about an hour or more

~ Doesn’t burn the skin or eyes

~ Has natural steam which moisturizes the skin around the eyes

~ Great travel size for long flights

Cons

~ Does contain chemicals such as iron powder and activated carbon which may not be safe to have around the eyes for extended periods of time

~ Not eco friendly

Rating: 2 out of 5.

I loved these eye masks and they worked so well, but after doing the research of what I bought I changed my mind. The reason I gave them only two stars is because of the concern and health risks I have over the chemicals inside them being on my skin and right over my eyes. Iron powder won’t cause blindness, but it is still treated as a combustible chemical that has health risks. Dust particles can seep through the material and into the eyes so I don’t think I’ll use them just to be safe. There is also the factor of the iron powder ending up in the garbage once the mask is used which is a waste of resources for something that isn’t completely necessary to use and has no long term health benefits and is a temporary luxury. Goodbye Rose eye masks and onto something a little more eco friendly.
