Eye shadow palettes (3 types) ~ Japanese/Korean product review

Brand: Rom&nd (01 Pampas Garden, 02 Mahagony Garden, 03 Rosebud Garden)

Size: 10 colors per palette

Average Price: 3,000 yen per palette (roughly $30) I found them online for 1,500 yen ($15)!

Colorful eye shadow palettes with both matte, shimmer and glitter types.

How to use*

Apply eye primer for stronger and longer lasting colors. Choose desired shade and apply to eye (can also be used as blush). For glitter apply on top of eye shadow as the last step patting it to blend in larger pieces.

Pros

~ Has a variety of types and colors to match skin’s tone

~ Long lasting wear

~ Blends well into skin (matte colors only)

~ Shimmer and glitter types have various colors and sizes of glitter in each pod

Cons

~ Big glitter types can cause some itchiness on skin

~ Glitter is oil based and can’t be blended well (must be set gently on top of eye shadow and patted in)

~ Shimmer shadows are large particle glitter which creases inside wrinkles, eye lid folds, and uneven skin textures

I love the variety of colors in these palettes. The matte ones go on smoothly and the glitter really shines with the various sparkle sizes inside them. I’m not particularly fond of the shimmer ones because the sparkles are so large they settle into any fine creases making the skin look cakey and heavy. They don’t blend well and looks more like flaky shadow on your lids. I believe these were designed to work well with monolids and ultra smooth skin. The medium and large size glitter ones work well but since they’re oil based they are best applied with fingers and pressed onto the skin and on top of finished makeup. I’m left slightly disappointed about the shimmer based ones because of their inconsistency when applying them. Also, these palettes are warm toned palettes. For cool colored skin they go on with a warm undertone of orange which may be unflattering for some skin types. When I’m at my tannest, I can use these since I can toggle between both warm and cool, but if you’re mostly cool toned I don’t recommend these palettes because you’ll notice the unflattering shades once they are on the skin.
