Trends of the New Gothic Era ~Nature’s Blessing~

~Chapter 9~ The Nature Goth – Men’s edition

In the darkness, goths rule the nightworld so it’s time to shine some light on the newest trends and dust the webs off our inner goths. In this series of chapters, I will be exploring the emergence of the latest trends in fashion’s underworld.

I’ve always wanted to dress in a gothic wardrobe fulltime but as I grow older the demands of the workplace require a much more modest approach to fashion and everyday life just doesn’t allow it as often.

So here’s my approach to the latest gothic trends that you can wear at work, in public, and even abroad. Dress how you want to dress. Gothic trends are emerging more elegant and mysterious than before and it’s time to add some new styles into the mix.

The Modern Hunter

Finding inspirations in nature can be difficult and in men’s gothic fashion even more so, but I’ve dug deep to find the latest trends that will get you inspired to add a few of them to your look. Take a look at the top three emerging trends in nature’s fashion. These subtle fashion pieces can be added to your daily looks to add variety into the usual black attire.

Nature’s Treasures

Every good goth has at least one ring to start them off and if not then this is the perfect chance to find the one for you! Men have an abundance of rings to choose from whether premade or custom ordered you can easily find what you’re looking for online. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, and styles which makes it easy to match your look. I especially love rings that have a little piece of nature preserved inside them or ones that are shaped to mimic a part of nature. Having a ring can become your signature piece that you wear for eternity so take your time in choosing wisely not only for style but also the quality of materials and the comfort level when wearing it. It’s better to spend a little extra for a strong metal that is durable to withstand your daily activities.

Into the Woods of Prints

There are so many shapes from nature that are printed onto shirts it just requires a little searching to find the ones you like best. They can emulate water, trees, flowers and any kind of nature really. Adding these prints to your all black wardrobe can help break up the monochrome with its texture and various colors. The print will show through your outer most layers giving that subtle contrast but not overwhelm the overall look. You can change the prints according to the seasons for a versatility of looks as well. As a general rule that I follow, be sure not to buy a print that is “outdated”. You know the ones. The 70’s yellow flower the size of your face pasted on the shirt. Instead, shop for prints that are more natural or less showy. The key is to keep the print small and less noticeable.

The Scavenger’s Pants

I’m absolutely obsessed with this look right now. Faded pants with two tones of colors are simple yet stand out more than your average pair of pants. They are great for casual wear and everyday life. The pockets are geometrically shaped giving them a more survival vibe. Think of these as the modern cargo pants! Remember those pants with hundreds of pockets well here is the more stylish version. Keep the colors simple and the prints minimal when it comes to this style of pants. It’s all about the pockets and shape. The fit should be looser than your average pants which allows for comfort and movement and at the ankles look for a boot cut style that will fit either over or inside your boots to keep the edges dry in winter.

As a lover of nature I find it fun to add pieces of nature inspiration into my daily fashion. Nature will never fade overtime or fall out of trend as long as it’s kept simple. They can be easily found in jewelry, prints, and even on shoes and jackets. I will admit men will find it more difficult to find clothes with nature because of the lack of variety retailers offer, but don’t give up. Online stores are becoming more popular to suit every shopper’s tastes. If your not sure that nature fashion is right for you start small.
